WEDNESDAY JANUARY 20TH, 2021 — Carole Jean Jordan, Tax Collector, Indian River County will temporarily close the following offices, the Main Office, located at 1800 27th Street and the Oceanside County Complex, located at 3003 Cardinal Drive, Suite C on the morning of Wednesday, January 27, 2021 for Motorist Modernization training, until 11:00 am.
Jordan said “the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is launching new software for the issuance of Driver Licenses. The new software is being installed and implemented statewide with the Motorist Modernization initiative.”
The Motorist Modernization initiative is a multi-year phased plan for re-engineering the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ driver license and motor vehicle systems to create efficiencies in the department’s work processes, enhance safety features for law enforcement agencies and streamline interactivity for customers now and into the future. When complete, the initiative will modernize driver license and vehicle registration systems to serve Florida’s growing population, without growing government. Customers may experience shorter wait times at local driver license and motor vehicle service centers and will gain access to additional online options.
Motorist Modernization is a robust collaboration with law enforcement agencies, tax collectors, dealerships, insurance companies, emergency services and state agencies, among additional various stakeholders. Stakeholder input continues to be a valuable part of this process and will help shape the new technology and ensure increased efficiency.
Jordan also stated “we will continue to provide service at our other two office locations, West Office, located at 1860 82nd Avenue and Sebastian Office, located at 1921 US Hwy 1, for citizens with appointments.”
“We appreciate the community’s understanding and patience as we continue to provide the very best customer service. Our website, IRCTAX.com is open 24/7 to allow for electronic transactions and, as always, e-check payments are fee-free” Jordan stated.
